Page File-Clear the Contents

Make your computer secure and ensure your own privacy by making a simple change to the local security policy in XP. Here’s how:

1. Click on Start.

2. Open the Control Panel.

3. Double click on the Administrative Tools applet. Note: If you are using “Category view,” you’ll find Control Panel under “Performance and Maintenance.”

4. Double click on the Local Security Policy applet.

5. Expand Local Policies (left pane).

6. Select Security Options.

7. Scroll down to the bottom of the list in the right pane, and locate the option: “Shutdown: Clear Virtual Memory Pagefile.”

8. Double click the option, and then select the Enabled radio button.

9. Click on OK to finish, and then close out.
